FOOD AND CLIMATE
Rethinking policies on local food systems for a more sustainable Mediterranean
In the context of the Earth Day Med Festival in Palermo, EStà is organizing one of their Open Innovation Living Lab.
This will be composed by two main moments:
- one panel on “Food and Climate: Challenges and Policies in the Mediterranean” during which the chair – Bianca Minotti from EStà – will dialogue with Emna Mornagui (Hivos) and Javier Albarracin (CREAF);
- a multi-stakeholder participatory workshop focused on the relationship between food systems and climate change in the Mediterranean (climate and agrobiodiversity hotspots) and aimed at thinking together about visions and priorities on these issues, starting by the discussion brought forward during the morning.
The workshop will be open to anybody interested in an open discussion on the topic of local food systems in the Mediterranean and facilitated by EStà.
Invited, as key guests, there will be Hanane Afassi Idrissi, vice mayor of the city of Chefchaouen and Emna Mornagui, from Hivos Tunis.

The festival is promoted by: Fondazione Studio Rizoma in collaboration with ECCO think tank, the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Paris, France | Italia, the Università degli studi di Palermo and EStà – Economia e Sostenibilità

The Living Lab is part of the European H2020 project #AfriFoodlinks, which aims to improve food security linked to urban sustainability, with a focus on the African context and open innovation. Coordinated by @ICLEI Africa, the project involves 26 partners and, to varying degrees, more than 65 cities.
