Food System Governance
Two days of work
On 29–30 November, EStà participated, together with thirty other internationally renowned experts, in a closed-door workshop – knowledge exchange – on regional food systems, focusing in particular on pilot activities for local food systems governance in Yorkshire.
The lack of an intermediate level between national and local
The objective? To compare and discuss specific models, focusing not so much on the challenges as on the common opportunities to be addressed. At the heart of the discussion was the issue of the “missing middle”, i.e. the lack of an intermediate level of food system governance between the national and local levels.
The workshops were hosted and moderated by the Centre for Food Policy at City University of London as part of the Fix Our Food project, led by the University of York. Organisations present included GAIN – Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, Sustainable Food Places and RUAF.
