GARDEN event on food, climate and logistics in urban food systems

GARDEN: Transforming Food Logistics for a Greener Mediterranean

On Friday 16 May, EStà hosted an event at Cascina Cuccagna in Milan organised by GARDEN, an Interreg Euro-MED project funded by the European Commission with the following objectives:

Innovative green logistics

GARDEN is implementing cutting-edge pilot projects in Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria to demonstrate the feasibility of sustainable food logistics. These pilot projects will use renewable energy sources such as solar energy and biofuels to create carbon-free logistics solutions.

Tackling climate change

By promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, GARDEN aims to make our cities more resilient. Our ecosystem-based approaches allow us to harness the power of nature to support our logistics systems.

Collaborative efforts

Through our living lab approach, we bring together public and private stakeholders, experts and communities to co-create practical and sustainable solutions for food logistics.

The aim of the event was to present evidence, lessons learned, good practices and suggestions on the climate impact of the food system, with a particular focus on urban logistics.

This was done through interactive sessions and open discussions that allowed participants to present their own experiences and participate in an analysis of what is happening on the issue.

EStà shared some of the studies and different points of view it has developed over the last five years.

Following the workshop, a collective set of recommendations was drawn up, which will be conveyed through the project, first to the partners and then to the European Commission.
