About

We are an independent organization that combines research, education, and consulting to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, public policy, and active citizenship.

We believe that innovation means bringing together different perspectives, making complexity accessible and generative.

Our Values

Our Values

Independence

We think and act without constraints: this is essential to creating genuine value.

Transparency

We adhere to clear and verifiable principles.

Accessibility

We believe that innovation is only meaningful if it is shared and understood by all stakeholders.

Participation

We promote responsible action based on dialogue that strengthens the bond between citizens and institutions.

Responsability

We carefully assess the impact of our decisions, mindful of the role we play in social change.

Collaboration

We build networks with organizations, institutions, and communities, because the exchange of ideas is the key to innovation.

Our History

From 2014 to the present

An ecosystem of expertise

Founded in Milan in 2012, we are the result of the convergence of diverse and complementary fields of expertise: urban policy, social innovation, economic research, journalism, participatory methods, communication, and environmental studies.

The First Steps

In our early years, we specialized in sustainable regional development.

In 2014, he coordinated the research that led to the creation of Milan’s Food Policy, establishing the first Italian center of expertise on urban food systems and developing a nationally recognized methodology.

Today

Today, Està provides scientific evidence to policymakers and explains complex issues in a clear, accessible, and engaging way.

We operate at the local, national, and international levels, while maintaining our ability to conduct systemic analysis and foster connections among different stakeholders to promote concrete pathways to sustainability

Partner

We collaborate with local governments, foundations, universities, research centers, labor unions, and public and private companies.

Every collaboration represents a new balance of visions, experiences, and methods.
We have forged partnerships with over a hundred organizations: from major international institutions to small local communities, from the municipalities of Milan and Turin to those of Cremona, Mantua, and Cassina de’ Pecchi. From universities as far away as Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, the University of Brasília, or France’s INRA, to well-known and established local institutions like the University of Milan-Bicocca. Added to these are major organizations such as the FAO, regional labor unions like FIOM CGIL Lombardia, long-standing NGOs, and small community groups.

A vibrant network that reflects our ability to operate on different scales while always maintaining our identity.
